Dental decay is the most common oral disease affecting children and young people in the UK. Evidence tells us that tooth brushing with fluoride toothpaste is one of the most effective ways of preventing dental decay. Gum disease can also be prevented by regular thorough tooth brushing to remove plaque. Help your children brush their teeth with a small headed toothbrush with medium texture bristles, at least twice a day as soon as the first baby tooth appears.
Pippins has been awarded the Saving Smiles Award from Solent NHS Trust. This is for successfully completing the 3 evidence-based practices for promoting good oral health. This is for healthy eating and drinking, daily tooth brushing with Fluoride toothpaste, visiting the dentist.
As part of our Saving Smiles programme, as your child starts at Pippins, we ask you if they have been registered with a dentist, and share a link to details of local NHS dentists.
