In the autumn term of 2023 we had a Christmas Art Club. Children created their own pictures for Christmas cards, gift tags and wrapping paper. Each card and sheet of wrapping paper was individually made by each child using hand or foot prints. There were six designs: Snowman, Penguin, Reindeer, Christmas Tree, Robin, Santa – examples of the designs are below:
As part of our Cookery Club in the summer term of 2023 the children made chocolate biscuit truffles for Father’s Day. You can see some pictures of the ingredients and finished truffles below, and pictures of other dishes the children have made, including: lettuce, cream cheese, carrot and chive parcels; pitta bread pizza; and fresh fruit kebabs. The Cookery Club gives children the opportunity to: learn and talk about hygiene and different ingredients; gain a basic understanding of measurement and quantity; make choices; as well as the cooking skills of mixing, sifting, draining, slicing, grating, chopping and peeling.
As part of our curriculum we had a gardening club in 2019. This went very well, and we were delighted to win first place in the Rushmoor in Bloom Schools Competition 2019. You can see the results and a photo of the certificate being presented to children and staff here
During the autumn term we prepared for things that we could grow in the spring and summer which we then used in the cookery club or on the snack bar. In summer 2019 we made potato salad with the potatoes and chives we had grown.
